ABOUT ME

I have always had a passion for education and childcare. I started by babysitting as a teenager and helping care for my siblings. I started my career in childcare in 2019 working in an out of school club and nursery where i completed my NVQ level 2 and 3 in childcare. I began as a support worker for a child with severe learning disabilities and ADHD in the out of school club, where i was a one to one carer for the child providing activities, resources and the opportunities for him to play alongside others and create friendships. When i completed my Level 2 qualification i became an out of school playworker working before and after school with the children and during the day planning and evaluating activities, preparing snacks and setting up for the sessions. I also began to work in the toddler play and stay sessions 3 times a week, working as a key person for children from 15 months to 5 years old, where i planned activities, observed and assessed the childrens development using the EYFS framework. Then as the business decided to expand to provide full day care for under 5s in addition to the out of school care i became full time, working in the nursery during the day and the out of school club before and after school and covering both rooms during holidays. I worked up to be Deputy manager and the Lead Early Years Practitioner for under 5s, during my time at the setting. I was also the specified key person for children on the 2 year old funding where i cared for children with english as an additional language and children who had additional needs or had additional support at home due to family circumstances.

I became  a Childminder in 2016, in which time i have achieved my level 6 BA Hons degree in Early Childhood. I have attended a number of courses over the years on topics linked to Safeguarding, Early Years and SEND. I am passionate about keeping my knowledge up to date and continuously access further training. I have an up to date First Aid certificate and Food Hygiene certificate. I am also a member of PACEY. My last OFSTED inspection was graded overall Good.

Pets

I do have fish (the youngest children seem to love being mesmerised watching them) , an African grey parrot (who likes to join in song and movement sessions) and 2 ducks which the children help give fresh water to, feed and get to stroke them.

I had my own little one in October 2022 and around the time of being pregnant started the settings journey to the Hygge Accreditation where we are spending more time in nature and remembering how to find the wanderlust in slowing down. We are also members of the forest childcare association, completing the wanderlust study programme alongside the hygge accreditation.

In addition we have just started our actions to become plastic free accredidited and have just completed our sun safety accreditation.
