SUSTAINABILITY

building a better world with the future of the world

We embarked on our plastic free accreditation in 2023 and are currently working our way through the objectives.

Our favourite ways to learn about the issues so far covered has being through

*litter picking sessions in the local area and on the beach

*water play to learn about pollution

*sorting recycling into materials

We have also considered and implemented a number of changes to be more sustainable and eco friendly as a family and have decided to extend this to the business.

*we use reuseable wipes in the setting

*will provide reuseable nappies during the time children are at the setting putting back into a disposable for home time unless parents use reuseable at home too.

*replaced children's toothbrushes with bamboo toothbrushes

*toilet roll is in paper wrapper not plastic (asda)

*majority of meals are vegetarian with generally one fish meal a week for lunches and teas are generally 50% vegetarian, 50% meat

* we are going to keep our felt tips for coloured water spray paint for the garden

*we are looking next spring to restart a wormery or composting area

*we grow our own herbs and vegetables

*we use recycling materials in our play and crafts

*we go foraging

*we try to buy from charity shops, marketplace, car boots and take donations rather than buying new

*we als ohave families donate old clothes to us that dont fit to use as spare clothes or to gift to other chimp families whose children are smaller
